Bridget Houston, Canadian Certified Counsellor

Bridget’s focus in counselling is to support you in healing and growing so you can live a life that feels fulfilling and meaningful. She takes a holistic approach to wellness—considering the many factors that shape our well-being, including our connection with emotions, mind, body, spirit, nature, relationships, values, and work life.

She draws from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based techniques, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Compassion-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Bridget tailors her approach to each person, recognizing that everyone’s healing journey is unique.

Bridget has experience supporting individuals with a variety of concerns, with a particular interest in helping people who wish to:

  • Heal from traumatic experiences (e.g., sexual violence, childhood trauma, manipulation/gaslighting)
  • Develop fulfilling and healthy relationships (e.g., navigating conflict, improving communication, building connection)
  • Heal their relationship with food, movement, and their body (e.g., restrictive eating, binge eating, body image concerns, exercise addiction)
  • Address depression and anxiety (e.g., coping with life transitions or stressors)
  • Build balance and resilience (e.g., managing perfectionism, reducing people-pleasing, aligning actions with personal values)

She honours and welcomes all parts of who you are and views it as a privilege to walk alongside clients on their healing journey. Her practice is person-centred and guided by a trauma-informed, inclusive approach that honours culture and identity.

Outside of her counselling work, Bridget enjoys playing hockey, hiking with her dog, painting, and singing.

Taking the first step toward healing and growth takes courage, and Bridget is here to support you along the way. She meets with clients in person at her office in downtown Whitehorse, or by video or phone.
